{"id":2319,"date":"2021-03-31T15:28:51","date_gmt":"2021-03-31T13:28:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/allevamentosanpaolo.com\/?page_id=2319"},"modified":"2021-03-31T16:35:41","modified_gmt":"2021-03-31T14:35:41","slug":"the-history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/allevamentosanpaolo.com\/en\/manor-farm-san-paolo\/the-history\/","title":{"rendered":"The history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The Manor Farm <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">San Paolo<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> is certainly one of the most important and famous in Italy, both for its history and size. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The passion for this business was passed on <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Francesco Basile, <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the owner: just like his father he was president of the Purebred Breeders National Association from 2000 to 2014. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Murgese Horse<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> and the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Donkey<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b> of <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Martina Franca<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">selection, continuously bred by the Basile Family, started in 1926 when the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Ministry of Agriculture, <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">together with<\/span><b> <\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">the bygone <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Regio Deposito Stalloni di Foggia, <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">today known as <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Istituto Regionale Incremento Ippico<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, and through the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Department of Agricultural Inspectors of Bari, <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">today known as <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>the Regional Agricultural Department<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Considering the bad break the equine sector was suffering during the war and the strong effort made by the breeders to preserve the rare examples of these fabulous animals, after the 2<\/span><sup><span lang=\"en-US\">nd<\/span><\/sup><span lang=\"en-US\"> World War it was necessary to set a real organization that could preserve these species concerning native thoroughbreds. Therefore, in 1948 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Alfonso Motolese<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">,<\/span><b> <\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">\u2013<\/span><b><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">Founding Assembly Deputy and Mayor of Martina Franca \u2013<\/span><b><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">drove a group of 22 breeders, such as <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Alberico Motolese <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">e <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Alfonso Basile<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, to promote the foundation of the<\/span><b><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>The<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0Regional <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Association<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>of<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Breeders<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>of the Murge<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Horse<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>and the<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Donkey<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>of<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Martina Franca<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, the really first one in Italy situated in Martina Franca. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Thanks to the enthusiasm of the founding members and the managing abilities of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Alberico Motolese <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">previous<\/span><b> <\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">president of the business from 1948 to 1975 and <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Alfonso Basile <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">next<\/span><b><\/b><span lang=\"en-US\">president from 1975 to 1995, the Association gave an important encouragement to the breed\u2019s development and knowledge, and a modern approach to understand the idea of breeding. Particularly, the horse breed was preserved from crossbreeding and purebreds selected. This initiative together with the collaboration of the Regio Deposito Stalloni di Foggia headed that time by the high-skilled zoo technician Colonel <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Agostino D\u2019Alessandro<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, made of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>the Murgese <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>the unique Italian equine production<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">In December 1956 the Association organized the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>1<\/b><\/span><sup><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>st<\/b><\/span><\/sup><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Competition of <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>the Murge<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Horse<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>and the<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Donkey<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>of<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Martina Franca Market<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, an event that today is still celebrated every year during the first weekend of December. The <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"><b>Imperial <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">stallion from San Paolo breeding was awarded in that first edition. Over the years, the incredible cooperation to develop the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Murge<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Horse<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and the<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Donkey<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">of<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Martina Franca made possible its national evolution.
